Hell yes I'm seeing the Mars Volta

Posted by Rabid-Echidna - June 9th, 2009

At 7:00 PM today, to be specific. It'll be the first concert where they play their new songs off Octahedron, then they go Bonnaroo in Tenessee I think, then out of the US for the next 4 months or so. I thought the Ventura Theater was kind of an obscure and ultimately unremarkable kind of venue, but apparently they enjoyed playing there so much the last time that they opted to make it one of two US tour sites. Plays out well for me, I guess you could say I'm stoked.

Edit: Show was crazy suck it MadCow.

Edit 2: Oh yeah I'm seeing Les Claypool at the same place on Saturday as well man what a boring week this is.

lucky fucking cunt ass n****r ffffff

The concert was really cool too bad you couldn't make it.

Mars Volta are amazing, I need to go to another concert soon.
As for Les Claypool, I actually had the pleasure of seeing him in concert, front and center. At one point he came out with a helmet on which had two lights attached to it where and proceed to stare at me for 5 minutes. He moves around rather strange live, somewhat like a bird.

I hope he stares me down and regurgitates food into my mouth like a loving father.

wut songs did they play

Bunch of the songs off their new CD, a bunch off Deloused, one that I recognized off Frances the Mute, two I recognized off Goliath, then some 20 minute long jam session towards the end. Their drummer is ridiculous.

Octahedron exceeded my expectations, I'd rank it tied with Deloused which was my previous favorite Mars Volta album.

I was surprised as well. They managed to pull out an equivalent album and didn't feel the need to fill it with 8 minute long songs of birds chirping.

cool!
